A Family Home We Couldn't Let Go
Yellow Mountain Vista has been a family mountain retreat since the home was built.
Families have grown up here. Children have become adults here. Friends and relatives return year after year because they have memories tied to this place — quiet mornings with coffee on the deck, evenings around the fire pit, wildlife wandering through the yard, and years of little moments that turned into core memories.
"We took over what had already been a beloved second home, and it became the same thing for us. Our kids grew up spending time here."
We are not ready to give up those memories or this home. But we cannot be here 365 days a year.
So when our family is not using Yellow Mountain Vista, we are opening it to guests — inviting you to come create your own memories here.

Dark-Sky Stargazing
The night sky here is dramatically darker than what you'll see from cities or even lower elevations. On clear nights, the Milky Way stretches across the sky like spilled milk. Guests regularly comment that they've never seen stars this bright.
Above the Clouds
When conditions are right — especially after rain or during morning fog — you can watch clouds drift through the valleys below while you sit in sunshine. It's a perspective most people only see from airplanes.
Valley Fireworks
On Fourth of July and New Year's Eve, guests near Yellow Mountain sometimes look down toward fireworks happening in the communities below rather than looking up at them. It's an unforgettable vantage point.

The Blue Ridge puts on its famous show. Book early — October is the most coveted month. Sweater weather, crackling fires, and golden ridgeline views from the wraparound deck.

Main Level
Kitchen, living room, deck, bedroom
At 4,400 feet, it's rarely needed. Cool mountain breezes and open windows keep things comfortable most of the year. Late July and early August can occasionally reach the mid-80s during the day — but evenings almost always cool down into the 50s and 60s.
Lower Level
Bedrooms, family lounge, game room
The lower level has A/C for guests who prefer it — especially welcome on those occasional warm August afternoons. The wood-burning stove also keeps this level cozy during fall and winter visits.

The short version: Most days are genuinely comfortable. If you visit in late July or August, expect a few warm afternoons — but you'll likely sleep with the windows open. The lower level A/C is there if you want it. We just want you to arrive prepared, not surprised.

All-wheel or four-wheel drive is not mandatory year-round, but it makes the drive more comfortable — especially in winter months or after heavy rain.
Think of it this way: you're heading to a mountaintop retreat. Expect mountain roads along the way, and you'll arrive ready to relax.
